Big Potato Games
How did we find out EXACTLY what Meta’s Andromeda system needs by supporting Herd Mentality to the #1 spot in the UK + US Amazon rankings?

Big Potato had already found a breakout hit with Herd Mentality.
One ad was performing exceptionally well and driving strong scale.
The problem was everything else.
No other ads were coming close to matching the performance of the original winner. Both the client and our team initially tried to replicate success by creating variations of the winning ad, using the same structure, same formula, and similar creative approach.
But this isn’t what Meta’s system rewards.
It doesn’t want small tweaks to the same idea. It wants true creative diversity: different formats, different concepts, and different messages.
To scale further, we needed to move beyond variations and start building a much broader creative ecosystem.
We shifted the entire creative strategy toward niche-led, highly varied concepts.
Instead of broad audiences, we built ads around specific scenarios:
- A mum hosting Thanksgiving and needing an easy game for a large group.
- Friends organising a pre-Christmas dinner party and wanting a simple after-dinner activity.
At first, results were slow. We were still not testing enough genuine variety.
Performance only started to improve once we introduced much more diverse creative concepts and simplified the messaging.
We moved away from longer, more complex narratives and focused on:
Real, authentic gameplay moments
Short, punchy “ugly ads” that showcased the game’s simplicity
Peer-to-peer UGC that spoke directly to the ideal customer
As soon as we started producing the kind of creative Meta’s system actually rewards, performance improved almost immediately.
